The United States has grown because of innovation. Throughout history we have been exploring and finding different ways to make our lives easier. Our ancestors have been rewarded greatly when they found a new invention to improve their lives. This type of behavior has been passed down through the generations. So in a sense, I think our eagerness to embrace new technologies has been breed into us.
I also think that we are a very materialistic society who place a lot of emphasis on vanity. Our role models are celebrities and the rest of the citizens want what the celebrities have. If Paris Hilton is photographed using her iPhone, many young women across the nation will want one because of it.
We also don’t ever seem to be content with what we have. The grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. When we see someone has the newest technology, we want it as well. Suddenly our fully functioning Blackberry just isn’t as good as the one that came out last month.
